Hedge Funds Are Focus Of Latest Informational Media Lunch
Global Equities' interactive media
luncheon series continued in New York on April 24th with a session
devoted to the growing role of the prime broker in relation to hedge
fund client performance. The lunch, hosted by John Dyment and James
Rowen, attracted a number of key journalists.
The lunch was the first in a series of Equity Prime
Services related sessions and focused on Accessing New Capital and
the capital introduction process. Among the topics covered were
the results of the recent Equity Prime Services Alternative Investment
Survey which polled hundreds of Institutional Investors whose diversified
portfolios include hedge fund investments. The survey highlighted
an increasing level of investor interest in the hedge fund sector.
Over a dozen reporters from leading publications including
the Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Barron's,
Financial Times, Business Week, Pensions &
Investments, Institutional Investor, Forbes, Fortune,
Reuters, Global Custodian, Plan Sponsor and
Bloomberg attended Wednesday's session.
The Global Equity Derivatives and Equity Prime Services
groups will continue to sponsor a series of press luncheons throughout
the summer. David Baker, Global Head of Portfolio Trading, will
host the next session on May 8th on "Understanding Portfolio
Trading."
Future topics include James Rowen/Andy Chacos/Jon
Hitchon on "Demystifying Hedge Fund Transparency: Risk Management
Today"; Jeremy Howard, Head of US Convertible Research, on
"Current Trends in US Convertibles"; and Tom Jardine,
Head of ETF Trading, on "The Uses and Liquidity of ETFs in
the Marketplace".
